PAU ILEF Students Successfully Represent PAU at the EU Youth Forum

Pamukkale University (PAU) Faculty of Communication (İLEF) Students successfully represented PAU at the European Union Youth Forum organized in Antalya.

Eight students from the undergraduate and graduate programs of PAU Faculty of Communication, assigned under the cooperation and guidance of Denizli Chamber of Industry (DSO) European Union Information Center Coordinator Cansun Özdülger and Pamukkale University Faculty of Communication International Relations Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emel Dikbaş Torun, attended the European Union Youth Forum held in Antalya between 25-27 March to represent PAU and Denizli.
The forum, hosted by the Antalya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, took place with the participation of a large number of students from 19 different universities studying in the fields of Communication and Social Sciences, with various activities that continued for three days. Undersecretary Stefano Fantorini, Head of the Political Affairs Section of the EU Delegation to Turkey, opened the forum with a mingling panel and the first day event was moderated by Prof. Dr. Nezih Orhon, Faculty Member of Communication at Anadolu University.
The second day of the forum continued with a welcome speech by Ali Bahar, President of Antalya Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This was followed by a presentation on critical thinking by author and academic Yalın Alpay. In the afternoon, Dr. Lale Dündar, Strategic Communications Officer of the EU Delegation to Turkey, gave a speech on disinformation, and Faruk Bildirici, Media Ombudsman, gave a speech on the ethical responsibilities of journalists and content producers as informers of society and guides of public opinion.
Artificial intelligence, critical thinking, combating disinformation and digital media literacy were discussed and the forum was closed with the panel "Critical Thinking in the Digital Age: The Search for Clarity in Information Confusion". In the closing panel moderated by Serdar Bilecen, Journalist Özlem Gürses, Psychologist and Author Beyhan Budak and Academician Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tirşe Erbaysal Filibeli emphasized the importance of critical thinking in the information chaos brought by the digital age. The final of the EU Turkey Youth Forum was a disinformation simulation with the participation of 30 students.  
Pamukkale University Faculty of Communication students gained knowledge and experience and represented our university and our province in the best way in this important international event.
