Pamukkale University Painting Education Department Lecturer Dr. Bekir İnce, won an exhibition award for his work titled “What are these people doing?” 20th State Photography Contest of 2022 Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The "State Photography Contest" organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism this year for the twentieth time to support the work of photographers in Turkey and to promote the art of photography, has been concluded. In the competition held in three different categories, 56 photographs were awarded among 1451 works of 611 participants evaluated by the selection committee.

Having received an exhibition award in the Human and Life Category, Dr. Bekir İnce said that he took the photo during the camel wrestling events in Sarayköy in 2016 and transformed it into black and white and sent it to the competition. Ince said, "The name of the photo is: 'What are these people doing?' Although it seems to be an event, there is a mystery as to why the people gathered because the camels were not seen. I love this photo. Friends who have a little understanding of photography, I think, liken it to Salgado's work because it is black and white, of course I am proud of that. Being a repetitive structural composition, it creates a dynamic effect. The State Photography Contests held every two years since 1984 create a recorded visual memory. In fact, I find it valuable as it continues a permanent tradition today, where many photography competitions are held.”

Dr. Bekir İnce won the Exhibition Award with his painting "Train Station" in 2002 at the State Photography Contests he had participated in before, and the Achievement Award in the Human and Life Category with his photograph "Pure Joy" in 2012.
