PAU Department of Textile and Fashion Design Starts New Academic Year with its First Students
In Textile and Fashion Design Department, which Denizli, the city of Textile and Fashion Design, has been waiting for years, as part of Pamukkale University (PAU) Faculty of Architecture and Design, 41 students were entitled to enroll according to the results of YKS 2023.
Among the equivalent departments, Pamukkale University Textile and Fashion Design Department, which takes students in the top ranks according to the order of success among the State Universities of Turkey, has completed its preparations for the 2023-2024 Education Period.
Head of the Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şöhret Aktepe Dal stated the following in her statement: "Our esteemed Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kutluhan, who has been evaluating the needs and demands of the sector for many years, has established the Department of Textile and Fashion Design under the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Pamukkale University with his determined initiatives since he took office. This development represents a parallel progress with the steps taken by today's universities to share information and technology and to expand new interdisciplinary fields of study. Denizli is home to 19 Design centers in the field of textile and ready-to-wear clothing. These centers are obliged to have bachelors degree graduate designers. In Denizli, which has an important position in Textile and Clothing exports in Turkey, this newly opened department aims to support the city's Textile and Clothing infrastructure and to make significant contributions in the field of design in the national and international platform. The department aims to make positive contributions to the national economy by encouraging the emergence of new talents in design and branding.
The intersection points between fashion design and other design disciplines within the faculty enable the emergence of different and original designs. The opening of the department shows that Denizli has the potential to produce more innovative representations of the textile, design and fashion sectors on national and international platforms. This will reinforce both the possible collaborations between the university and the sector and the potential of Denizli to produce more innovative representations of the textile, design and fashion sector on national and international platforms. Pamukkale University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kutluhan made the following statement on the subject "The basic condition for developing and growing in the field of textile and fashion design and having a say in the world textile and fashion market is to be able to create designs and brands. Our Department of Textile and Fashion Design at Pamukkale University, which accepted 41 students in the new academic year by taking the first step in its higher education journey, will play a strategic role in meeting the designer needs of the textile and ready-to-wear sector in Denizli province, which has a very important place in Turkey's textile exports due to the obligation to employ designers with a bachelor's degree, which is a prerequisite for the design center and design supports of our Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Trade. In addition, the inability of the design centers in Denizli to ensure the continuity of the design centers in Denizli province due to the lack of undergraduate graduate designers, the opening of the Textile and Fashion Design Department in Denizli, which is a textile city, in order to eliminate the deficiency in the design field in the Textile and Ready-to-Wear industry, with the numerous opportunities it will provide to both Denizli province and the country's economy, the opening of the department is very necessary and very beneficial to the country. The Only Department in the Aegean Region within the Faculties of Architecture and Design
PAU Textile and Fashion Design Department aims to train innovative and productive designers who will increase the fashion and design sensitivity of the society during its 4-year undergraduate education. The department aims to continuously develop its education plan with modern approaches and to carry out academic and artistic activities that will revitalize university-industry cooperation. In this direction, it is aimed to organize interviews, joint projects, fashion shows and career days with the sector and fashion designers. Considering the contributions of the department to our country and Denizli province, one of the main goals is to train well-equipped personnel for the R&D design departments of textile enterprises. In this way, it is aimed to realize the production and export of textile products that will provide added value both in our country and in our province with our equipped graduates. It is an important advantage that the department is open to university-industry collaborations with the opportunities provided by the strong industry in our province, creates an original design identity, and has an education model that prioritizes development.
