First Lecture at the Faculty of Communication: "Combating Disinformation"

The Academic Year Opening Ceremony of the Faculty of Communication held at the Hierapolis Hall was attended by the rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kutluhan, Dean of the Faculty of Communication Prof. Dr. Ali Soylu, President of the Journalists Association Osman Nuri Boyacı, Strategic Communication Officer of the EU Delegation to Turkey Dr. Lale Şıvgın Dündar, Denizli European Union Information Center Coordinator Cansun Özdülger, faculty members and students.

In her opening speech, Denizli European Union Information Center Coordinator Cansun Özdülger stated that in the new media age, the rapid access to information also brings disinformation. Özdülger underlined that the provision of fake news and misleading information, which becomes more critical especially in times of natural disasters and crises, has irreversible consequences.

Prof. Dr. Soylu: "With the support of our Rector, we are planning to open the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema next year"

Prof. Dr. Ali Soylu made the opening speech and said: "We are extremely happy that we have resumed face-to-face education, which we had a compulsory break. It is very nice to see you, our students, again. I hope that this happiness we experience in face-to-face education with different activities will continue. Having clear goals of an institution is one of the issues we always emphasize as a management scientist. The mission and vision of an institution is important for many different segments. At this point, I would like to thank Mr. Rector, who has been focusing on being a producing university since the day he took office. We are also his supporters. We academics publish scientific publications but we also carry out education and training activities. We exist for our students. With the collaborations we have made with organizations such as Denizli Chamber of Industry in our city, we make our students partners in this mission and vision. With the support of our rector, we are working to improve our current conditions.  Hopefully, we will accept students to our New Media and Communication department this year.  As of the next academic year, we want to realize our Radio, Cinema and Television department."

Rector Kutluhan: "One of the most important factors on this path we set out with our vision of 'University is the guide of life' is communication"

Speaking at the opening, Pamukkale University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kutluhan said, "Our students who started their undergraduate education this year will have started in the first century of our Republic and will graduate in the second century. This Republic was not founded easily and it does not continue simply. Therefore, we will appreciate our Republic and work hard. Although our Faculty of Communication is small in volume, they are doing great things that cannot be seen in their volume. Communication is one of the most important factors in this path we set out on with our vision of "University is the guide of life". Our students need to see the problems of the public. We have established our own center and many of our students are currently working there on a part-time basis. When our students leave here, they will start working with a lot of knowledge. We need to comprehend this republic founded by Atatürk very well. We are not a state that will disappear easily. Continuously following what is right makes us strong. We will be strong in health, we will be strong in communication. This path passes through our students. It comes from students who are curious, questioning and involved in life. I am very hopeful about our students, our future and our youth. They will discuss national and world issues in every environment. I congratulate the new academic year of the Faculty of Communication."
