Films Ranking in the 20th Akbank Short Film Festival Screened at PAU Faculty of Communication

The 20th Akbank Film Festival short films that won awards in many national and international competitions were screened at the Hierapolis Conference Hall hosted by Pamukkale University (PAU) Faculty of Communication.

On Monday, April 15, a total of 5 short films were screened and the event was attended by students and faculty members.

The event was organized in cooperation with PAU Department of Health, Culture and Sports Communication Community and 3-2-1 Recording Film and Cinema Community. In the event, the films that ranked in the 20th Akbank Short Film Festival held in March and April and won various awards in many international competitions were screened. 

First, the animated film "A Kind of Testament" directed by Stephen Vuillemin, which won the best short film award in the international competition category, was presented to the audience. The film tells the story of a young woman's selfies taken by another woman with the same name, an elderly woman with an unrelenting illness, who uses them to create an animation. Secondly, the film "Evcil", which participated in many competitions in Turkey and won the first prize at the 24th Izmir Short Film Festival last year and was selected as the best short film in the national competition category of the 20th Akbank Short Film Festival, was shown. Directed by Deniz Uymaz, the film tells the story of Firaz, who is looking for a way out to get away from the village she lives in, and at her father's funeral, she watches for a relative coming from the city. The film also focuses on the fact that Firaz's grandfather, with whom he lives, has become a great burden for him. The third film screened at the event was "Homecoming", directed by Demir Demirbag, which won the Young Eyes Best Short Film Award. The movie is about a young man's unwillingness to return home after his father's death and his memories of his father while walking in the city. The fourth short film "Between Grace and Violence", which received an honorable mention, was screened. Directed by Şirin Bahar Demirel, the film is about the pursuit of traumatic memories that cannot be included in family albums. Finally, the short film "Two Blues" directed by Mahir Uslu, which received the Young Glances Honorable Mention award, was screened at the event. The movie is about a young man's difficulties in rediscovering human relationships and his inner world.
