"Combating Violence Against Women" Conference Held at Çivril Atasay Kamer Vocational School

Prof. Dr. Türkan Erdoğan, Head of ITBF Department of Sociology, gave two separate conferences at Çivril Atasay Kamer Vocational High School within the scope of Denizli Provincial Action Plan for Combating Violence against Women due to her duty in the Provincial Coordination, Monitoring and Evaluation Commission for Combating Violence against Women.

The first of the conferences organized under the coordination of Denizli Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services was held for the students and staff of Çivril Atasay Kamer Vocational School. Following the speech titled "Pre-Marriage Education" given by Social Worker Fatma Ulusoy, staff of Denizli Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, Prof. Dr. Türkan Erdoğan gave a conference on "Gender Equality and Dating Violence".

The second conference held in the conference hall of Çivril Atasay Kamer Vocational School was attended by Çivril District Governor Hasan Akbulut, Çivril District Mayor Niyazi Vural, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Turan Karadeniz, Vocational School Director Dr. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sami Eşmen participated in the conference.

In the conference held for the local people of Çivril and public personnel, Prof. Dr. Erdoğan spoke on "Domestic Communication and Combating Violence Against Women". Prof. Dr. Erdoğan conveyed the following information about "Domestic Communication and Combating Violence against Women":

"In order to make a social contribution due to my duty in the Commission, I have been giving conferences on "Combating Violence Against Women" for the public in different districts of Denizli since 2022. These conferences, organized under the coordination of Denizli Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services and with the contributions of district governorships, are held in two stages if there is a Higher School affiliated to our University in the relevant district. The first one is for our university students and staff and we address the issue in the context of 'Gender Equality and Dating Violence'. The second stage is for local people on 'Domestic Communication and Combating Violence against Women'. To date, we have organized a total of eight conferences in Çameli, Tavas, Kale, Serinhisar and Acıpayam. In the stages of this conference for students, a presentation was also made by the Social Worker staff from the Provincial Directorate on 'Pre-Marriage Education'. In the public phase, I contributed with the title of 'Domestic Communication and Combating Violence against Women'. We held the sixth of the conference series in Çivril this time. I can state that it was an intensely attended and productive event. On December 19, 2023, we will be in Honaz again. We will discuss 'Gender Equality and Dating Violence' in the conference to be held at Honaz Credit and Dormitories Institution Conference Hall under the coordination of Denizli Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services and with the contribution of Honaz District Governorship. We are also planning to be in Çivril again soon with another event hosted by the Çivril Municipality. Our greatest wish is to contribute and raise awareness among young people and the local community on the issues we are addressing."
