Multi-Code Drill Successfully Conducted

24.02.2026
At Pamukkale University (PAU) Hospitals, a field drill related to the emergency alert codes “Pink Code, White Code, and Blue Code” was successfully conducted under the coordination of the Disaster and Emergency Unit, with the active participation of hospital staff, in order to enhance emergency management capacity and improve crisis coordination.

The drill was announced in advance and initiated as a real-time field application, aiming to manage Emergency Codes simultaneously within the scope of a predefined scenario. The objective of the drill was to evaluate participants’ communication, coordination, response speed, procedural implementation, and the effectiveness of official documentation flow during the management of multiple emergency codes at the same time. The drill began at 10:00 a.m., and in line with the planned scenario, coordinated cooperation among security units, medical intervention teams, administrative staff, and switchboard operators was observed. During the drill process, within the scope of the Pink Code, the relevant units were rapidly contacted regarding a scenario involving a missing child in the ward; all exits were secured, camera and field scans were carried out, and the child was safely located and handed over to the family. In the subsequent phase of the scenario, the White Code was activated, simulating an incident of violence against staff by a patient’s relative, and security teams and hospital police intervened in a coordinated manner. At the same time, due to the stressful environment, a staff member suddenly became unwell, leading to the activation of the Blue Code; the blue code team arrived at the scene promptly, administered advanced life support, and safely transferred the patient to the emergency department. Throughout the entire process, notification, monitoring, and completion forms related to the relevant codes were fully completed, and announcement and radio communication protocols were successfully implemented. The drill was completed at 10:35 a.m., and during the evaluation meeting held afterward, areas for improvement were identified in line with the findings obtained.

The level of preparedness for potential emergencies and the hospital’s intervention capacity for safety were successfully tested.

In a statement made by the Disaster and Emergency Unit, it was noted that the hospital will continue to regularly review and strengthen its emergency plans through drills in order to maintain patient and staff safety at the highest level. As Pamukkale University Hospitals, we once again emphasize our determination in emergency preparedness and crisis management and extend our thanks to all staff members who participated in the drill, the simulation actors, and the supporting units.
