Digital Patient Information Service Launched for Dermatology Patients at PAU Hospitals
Professor Ahmet Metin, Head of the Department of Dermatology and Venereal Diseases at Pamukkale University (PAU) Hospitals, announced the launch of a QR code-supported digital patient information service aimed at enabling patients to access reliable information about dermatological diseases and treatments more easily.
Professor Ahmet Metin, Head of the Department of Dermatology and Venereal Diseases at PAU Hospitals, stated:
“We have implemented a new patient information service to help our patients better understand their conditions and participate more consciously in their treatment processes. Today, dermatology outpatient clinics experience very high patient volumes, and some of the information provided during examinations may be forgotten over time. However, a significant proportion of dermatological diseases require long-term follow-up, regular treatment, and the active participation of the patient. Based on this need, we have prepared up-to-date and scientifically grounded patient information texts on more than 80 common skin diseases and made them available on our university’s website. We have also provided access to content related to the use of certain medications, sun protection, and preventive dermatology practices. Thanks to the QR code system established in our outpatient clinics, patients can directly access information prepared about their diagnosis, recommended treatment, or important precautions using their mobile phones. In this way, the explanations provided during examinations are supported by reliable and institutional information that patients can review later.”
Professor Ahmet Metin: “We Aim to Ensure Easy Access to Reliable Information for Our Patients”
“Our aim is to ensure that patients access accurate information that has passed through a scientific review process rather than relying on social media or unverified internet sources, to improve health literacy, and to strengthen treatment adherence. We believe that helping patients better understand their diseases and treatment options will contribute positively to both patient satisfaction and treatment success,” said Professor Ahmet Metin, continuing:
“We have designed this initiative as a continuously evolving system. In the coming period, we aim to expand its scope by adding patient information content on cosmetic dermatology, laser applications, and aesthetic procedures, along with new disease topics. Patient information texts can be accessed through the Department of Dermatology and Venereal Diseases webpage of the Pamukkale University Faculty of Medicine: https://www.pau.edu.tr/dermatoloji/tr/sayfa/hasta-bilgilendirme-formlari”
