Pamukkale University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical Genetics received the best oral presentation award.
The oral presentation titled "Biological Effects of CRISPR/Cas9-mediated Knockout of RAB27A in SCLC" made by PhD student Kubilay İnci at the 3rd International Multidisciplinary Cancer Research Congress hosted by Istinye University between September 7-10 was awarded the best oral presentation award.
It is the first study in our country in terms of knockout of the RAB27A gene using CRISPR/Cas9 technology, (which received the Nobel Prize in chemistry) which was conducted by Pamukkale University Medical Genetics Department faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Onur Tokgün, and microPET-CT imaging analysis of the experimental animal model. The researchers stated that this research, which is one of the firsts in our country, has the potential to create new approaches for Small Cell Lung Cancer, for which an effective treatment method has not yet been defined.
Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Onur Birsen congratulated the researchers who received the award and stated that they are happy to receive such awards for our hospital and thanked everyone who contributed.
