19.10.2023

The PET/CT device serving in the PET/CT unit of Pamukkale University Health Research and Application Hospital Nuclear Medicine Department has been renewed.

Nuclear Medicine Department Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tarık Şengöz made the following statements about the new device; Positron emission tomography devices, which are imaging devices used especially for the diagnosis and treatment follow-up of cancer patients, are the most useful Nuclear Medicine devices in this field. The newly installed PET / CT is one of the best devices in its field. We would like to thank the Bianco Company for investing in our University for this device, which was installed at a cost of approximately 2 million Euros.

The PET/CT device provides high quality PET images up to 3 mm with its 5 crystal rings and Q Clear feature. With the new device, our patients are given half as much radioactivity as the old one, and the scanning time is 50% shorter than before. In this way, while the radiation dose to be received by our patients is reduced by half, up to 50 F-18 FDG PET/CT scans can be performed daily with the shortened shooting time. Our university hospital is the only center in our province that can perform Gallium-68 PSMA imaging and Lutetium-177 PSMA treatment in patients with prostate cancer, and with this new device, both Gallium-68 PSMA imaging (8 patients per day) and Lutetium-177 PSMA capacity have increased 4 times.

Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Onur Birsen stated that this device can meet the needs of Denizli province and said that our patients will not need to go outside the province.
