Magnetic Chair for Urinary Incontinence Treatment
01.03.2021
PAU Hospitals Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Dept. Urogynecological Rehabilitation Unit Responsible Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Necmettin Yıldız made important statements regarding the treatment of urinary incontinence.
"The magnetic chair does not have any side effects. While the patient is sitting on the chair, he / she may feel a slight vibration or the feeling of the waves hitting in the relevant area, and even feel the contraction of the pelvic muscles. The patient will not feel pain during and after the treatment. No probe (device) is applied to the vagina or rectum as in other conservative treatment methods. The patient sits in a chair for 20-30 minutes without undressing with his clothes. It is applied 2 or 3 times a week for 6 or 12 weeks. Success rates in the literature are quite high (60-80%). Supporting magnetic chair therapy with pelvic floor exercises (Kegel) and bladder training increases success. If urinary incontinence is accompanied by gas and stool incontinence, it also contributes to the recovery of these complaints. It is even applied in the treatment of urinary incontinence that may develop after prostate surgeries."
