In-Service Trainings Successfully Completed at PAU Hospital

Communication trainings were given within the scope of in-service trainings organized for the personnel of Pamukkale University hospitals. Nurses, clerical staff, auxiliary health personnel and security personnel participated in the training on the importance of communication, obstacles and solutions in communication, the use of body language in communication, issues to be considered in communication with patients and their relatives.

Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kutluhan said that after the training of the hospital staff, these trainings will continue in all units of our university and that they aim to contribute to the development of our staff.

PAU Vocational School of Social Sciences-Hotel Restaurant and Catering Services-Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seher Argun from Tourism and Hotel Management made the following statements about the training she gave:

Within the scope of the seminars organized for the staff of Pamukkale University Hospitals, the basic features of communication were emphasized in the training, which explained the importance of communication, which is a part of our lives from birth to death. Communication accidents, especially in face-to-face communication, problems experienced by hospital staff with patients and their relatives and solutions to these problems were emphasized. In the training attended by nurses, office staff, auxiliary health personnel, the effect of non-verbal communication elements such as gestures, mimics, body postures, sovereignty areas, distance, as well as verbal communication was explained. In addition, the issues to be considered in communication with patients and their relatives were underlined, as well as communication methods that will facilitate the establishment of better and healthier relationships that will satisfy both parties.

One of these training programs was given for the Office Staff.

The training titled Time and Stress Management was given by PAU Acıpayam Vocational School Lecturer Filiz Gülsevin Ersöz. In the training, which took place with a very crowded group in the evening, the definition of stress, its symptoms and the way it reflects on behavior were revealed, while the methods of coping with stress were discussed with examples from daily life. In the same training, time management, which is one of the most important elements of stress management, was also explained under a separate title. Topics such as the necessary elements for time management, situations that prevent us from managing time during working hours, and the benefits of time management were explained.

In the training given by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hüsnü Ergün, Head of Acıpayam Vocational School Office Services and Secretarial Department for hospital office employees, the importance of the division of labor in the hospital organization was mentioned and job descriptions were emphasized. The importance of employees' compliance with job descriptions was emphasized. It was also shared with the employees about the production and storage of documents, which is the result of the fact that office workers use written communication more intensively.

Anger Management, Crisis Management and Burnout Syndrome were also covered.

Psychologists Simge Kaya, Vildan Boyacı, Çiğdem Tekkanat and Hidayet İmanç gave the following trainings with their main topics:

Anger control, ways of expressing anger, reasons, how to communicate with angry people and how to express anger in appropriate ways. Crisis management, the concept of crisis, types of crisis, symptoms accompanying crisis, stages of crisis, how to approach someone in crisis. Burnout syndrome, what is burnout, what are the symptoms, what are the consequences of burnout and what can be done to cope with it were the topics of interest.

Denizli Vocational School of Health Services Lecturer. Assist. Hatice Gencer Alsancak gave information about the history of ethical principles for healthcare professionals, why they are necessary, ethical dilemmas and ethical decision making in the training titled "Healthcare professional ethics, ethical problems, ethical decision making". In addition, he explained the principles of respect for autonomy, usefulness, justice, honesty and integrity, informed consent, loyalty / keeping your word, confidentiality, truthfulness and spokesperson principles with examples.The topics of  PAU Vocational School of Health Services Lecturer Huriye Demirhan's trainings on health services for nurses can be listed as follows:
