The Diction Winter School, held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye and organized jointly by the Atatürk High Institution of Culture and History, the Turkish Language Association (TDK), Pamukkale University (PAU), and Denizli Provincial Directorate of National Education, took place at Pamukkale University (PAU) from 10–14 November, with the opening ceremony marking its commencement.

Following a moment of silence and the national anthem, the program continued with the screening of Pamukkale University’s promotional film and protocol speeches.

TDK Science Board Member Mete: “I sincerely thank Pamukkale University and its esteemed Rector for organizing such an educational program in Denizli.”

The first speech was delivered by TDK Science Board Member Şener Mete. He stated: “The broadcaster friends who came here voiced very important texts about the War of Independence and presented many ceremonies. In the programs they voiced, they also introduced Denizli and provided news from the city. Their work was followed and listened to by all of Türkiye for years. Not only in Türkiye but also in international broadcasts, they shared their voices and images worldwide, influencing many people. We are here in Denizli with A-group broadcasters and presenters of Türkiye. Thanks to the Turkish Language Association and under the leadership of Vice President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Harun Şahin, we are in Denizli with a larger team than Karaman for the second diction training in the institution’s history. I believe the friendships formed over these five days with our valuable teachers will create an important chain of memories in all our lives. I sincerely thank Pamukkale University and its esteemed Rector for organizing such a training in Denizli. I also extend my gratitude to our instructors who made the necessary preparations upon hearing about this training and to the TDK experts and staff who facilitated this organization with exemplary work.”

Dr. Çalışkan: “I believe that activities of this more comprehensive and in-depth nature are much more effective and have greater multiplier effects.”

The second protocol speech was delivered by Denizli Provincial Director of National Education Dr. Emre Çalışkan, who stated: “On this 87th anniversary of the passing of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of our Republic, I once again commemorate all our martyrs, all those who have served this nation, with mercy, gratitude, and respect. On behalf of our institution, I have come to express our sincere thanks to our valued participants. We have approximately 16,000 teachers in Denizli, esteemed colleagues, and more than 200,000 students continuing their education in nearly a thousand schools. Personally, I believe that activities of this more comprehensive and in-depth nature are much more effective and have greater multiplier effects. Therefore, on behalf of our valuable teachers, I extend my gratitude to you once again. I am sure that the efforts and contributions of these teachers will have an even greater impact on our future generations, our children. I hope this panel and our training sessions will be beneficial.”

TDK Vice President Şahin: “I truly believe that serving our Turkish language is serving Turkism.”

TDK Vice President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Harun Şahin, beginning his speech by commemorating Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on the 87th anniversary of the Republic, said: “As is known, natural language is spoken language. Spoken language varies from region to region. In this sense, working on spoken language is a difficult and laborious task. However, as the Turkish Language Association, the institution of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, we had to undertake this challenging task. We are aware that, in a way, we must serve spoken language. We recognize the importance of your views and practices as exemplary speakers applying spoken language in practice and that they should be disseminated widely. The activities organized by our institution have also been recognized by our Presidency. In 2026, diction courses and summer diction schools in seven provinces have been approved by our Presidency. I sincerely believe that serving our Turkish language is serving Turkism. I thank you all and extend my respects.”

Rector Güngör: “Diction is not just about expressing what you speak but the art of conveying what you mean to the other party.”

Pamukkale University Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmud Güngör stated: “Diction is a very important subject, and the art of speech or the spoken language carries inherited structures formed by coming from different regions of Türkiye and by age. Diction is not only about expressing what you say but the art of conveying what you mean to the other party. Being understandable is very important and gains more respect. As Pamukkale University, we are extremely pleased to host our friends in Denizli right after Karaman. Over these five days, we hope to fully benefit from these diction masters and, primarily through Mahmut Güngör, achieve something. I welcome you all again. I believe that by the end of this workshop, you will provide significant gains for our youth, our instructors, and ourselves. I conclude my words by commemorating Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on the 87th anniversary of his passing, as well as all our martyrs and veterans. I extend my respects to you all.”

Following the opening speeches, the program continued with the “Our Voice, Turkish Panel”, chaired by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ersan Öz and including presentations by Billur Adalet İbrahimhakkıoğlu, Erdoğan Arıkan, Gözde Baranoğlu, and Şener Mete.
