World Tourism Day Message from Rector Kutluhan

Pamukkale University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kutluhan published a message on September 27, World Tourism Day.

In order to create and develop tourism awareness in the world and to emphasize the environmental, economic, political and socio-cultural importance of the sector, the United Nations accepted September 27 as World Tourism Day in 1979 in line with the proposal of the World Tourism Organization.

Pamukkale University Faculty of Tourism, which continues its scientific studies in the field of tourism at the international level in both our country and our province with the understanding of sustainable tourism in the 100th year of our Republic; has organized the following activities: On January 09, 2023, 100th Year Tourism Memorial Grove, on January 09, 2023, Denizli Gastronomy Competition on May 24, 2023, Sustainable Thermal Tourism Congress on May 20-21, 2023, V. Tourist Guidance Congress on September 30-October 2, 2023, International Gastronomy Tourism Congress in Uzbekistan on May 1-3, 2023, and International Beyağaç Topuklu Plateau Sky Observation on July 13-16, 2023.

The 23rd National Tourism Congress will be hosted by Pamukkale University Faculty of Tourism between October 13-15, 2023 in the 100th anniversary of our Republic. The sub-themes of the congress, whose main theme is "Tourism Education", are: "Current Approaches in Tourism Education", "Expectations of the Tourism Sector from Education", "Re-evaluation of Internship and Workplace Learning Models in Tourism Education", "Tourism Education after the Pandemic", "Tourism Education with Generation Z and Millennium", "Policy Recommendations for Tourism Education" and other issues related to tourism education and tourism. We are honored to host this congress, where public institutions, sector representatives, non-governmental organizations and academicians will come together and we hope to evaluate the issues related to policy recommendations for tourism education.

We are also happy to be organizing the "International Thermal Health Tourism Forum" hosted by Denizli Metropolitan Municipality and Pamukkale University between January 11-13, 2024, where all parties of health tourism will come together and the latest developments in the field of health tourism will be shared, experiences will be shared and future collaborations will be possible.

Our work that will contribute to the development of our province and region with tourism stakeholders and then to the development of our country will continue to increase in the future as it is today. With all these feelings and thoughts, I would like to congratulate all stakeholders of our tourism sector on September 27, World Tourism Day, while expressing my gratitude to the people, institutions and organizations that have contributed to the realization of our country's goals in the field of tourism.
