22.06.2026
Dr. Özge Kılıçarslan, a faculty member of the Department of Tourism Management at the Faculty of Tourism, Pamukkale University (PAU), will participate in a 45-day field study of an international research project to be conducted in Italy.

The field research will be carried out in the ancient city of Pompeii, one of Italy’s most important cultural heritage sites, and in the surrounding area of Mount Vesuvius. The study, designed by Dr. Özge Kılıçarslan, will examine the effects of artificial intelligence–supported digital storytelling on visitors’ perceptions of and experiences in the destination.

Focusing on the historical atmosphere of Pompeii and the strong cultural memory of Mount Vesuvius, the research aims to reveal how artificial intelligence technologies shape cultural heritage tourism experiences.

The study is expected to contribute to the establishment of collaborations between Pamukkale University and international academic institutions, as well as to strengthen the university’s international visibility.
