The Heart of Agricultural Digital Transformation Will Beat in Çal: Double TÜBİTAK Support for Çal Vocational School Digital Agricultural Technologies Program

17.06.2026
The Digital Agricultural Technologies Program of Pamukkale University (PAU) Çal Vocational School (Çal MYO), which has made it its core mission to pioneer digital transformation in agriculture, has crowned its vision of social benefit with two new projects accepted within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 2237-A Scientific Training Activities Support Program.

Pamukkale University Çal Vocational School continues to shed light on the future of agriculture by training generations that blend traditional farming with high technology, produce, and design technology. In this context, the program, which aims to train qualified human resources that will shape the agricultural future of the country, will bring the digital agriculture ecosystem together in Çal through training activities to be held in the summer and autumn periods.

First Step in July: Sustainable Agriculture and Digital Awareness

As the first step of this vision, the “Use of Digital Agricultural Technologies for Agricultural Sustainability Awareness Training” will be held between July 1–3 under the coordination of Lecturer Dr. Çiğdem Elgin Karabacak. Aiming to support qualified labor—one of the most urgent needs of the agricultural sector—the training will offer innovative solutions from a digital agriculture perspective to global problems such as climate change, protection of natural resources, and food security (For detailed information: https://www.pau.edu.tr/digtarimtek/tr).

Agriculture 4.0 Winds in September

The initiative of the Digital Agricultural Technologies Program in this field will continue without slowing down in September. The second training project titled “Digital Transformation in Agriculture: Web-Based Artificial Intelligence Applications Training,” to be implemented under the coordination of Lecturer Dr. Ezgi Okan Arıkan, brings this ecosystem into both theoretical and practical field applications.

Within the scope of this comprehensive event, participants will gain advanced competencies shaping the future of agriculture such as autonomous agricultural vehicles, precision livestock production techniques, artificial intelligence, computer vision, deep learning, and UAV (drone) technologies. In addition, processes involving the processing of data obtained from sensors through Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and its transformation into strategic decision-support mechanisms will be delivered in a hands-on manner. Thus, by training the target group for areas using digital technologies in agricultural production environments and bringing visionary young people who will apply modern agricultural systems in the field into the sector, significant social benefit will be created (For detailed information: https://www.pau.edu.tr/agrotech/tr).

The management of Çal Vocational School congratulated academics Lecturer Dr. Çiğdem Elgin Karabacak and Lecturer Dr. Ezgi Okan Arıkan, who implemented these valuable projects in line with the academic vision of the school and who significantly contribute to the mission of agricultural digitalization and social benefit goals, and wished them continued success in their projects.
