Spring Joy at PAU: Nevruz Celebrated with Melodies of the Turkic World
Pamukkale University (PAU) celebrated March 21 Spring Festival (Nevruz), the shared heritage of the Turkic world, with a vibrant and well-attended event. Organized in cooperation with the PAU Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS), ALTAY DİLMER, the Department of Contemporary Turkic Dialects and Literatures, and the Youth Center, the program brought the richness of Turkish culture to the stage.
Pamukkale University celebrated March 21 Spring Festival, heralding the arrival of spring, with a magnificent organization. At the event organized in collaboration with the Pamukkale Youth Center, in addition to protocol speeches, traditional dances, music, and poems from different geographies of the Turkic world provided unforgettable moments for the guests.
Following the moment of silence and the National Anthem, students of Pamukkale University’s Department of Contemporary Turkic Dialects and Literatures performed a folk dance show. The opening speech of the program was delivered by PAU FHSS Dean Prof. Dr. Bilal Söğüt. Subsequently, Pamukkale Youth Center Director Ömer Yasin Kocalar and Prof. Dr. Soner Sağlam delivered speeches on the meaning and significance of the day, emphasizing the unifying power of Nevruz in the Turkic world.
The Turkic World United as One Heart
Within the scope of the event, Islambek Uzakbay, a student of the Department of Contemporary Turkic Dialects and Literatures, delivered an informative presentation titled “How is Nevruz Celebrated in the Turkic World?”. Following the presentation, students who took the stage took the audience on a cultural journey from the steppes of Central Asia to Anatolia with their performances: Dânagül Khauyg received great applause with a captivating dance performance from the regions of Kazakhstan. Gulzhaina Nurmaganbetova, Umit Omargazinova, and Lazizbek Raximov won hearts with poems they recited in Kazakh and Uzbek Turkish. Bermet Keneshova brought the ancient sounds of the Turkic world to the hall with a kopuz performance, while Dilnaz Bitimbayeva did so with a dombra performance.
At the end of the program, certificates of participation were presented to the academics and students who contributed to the event.
