PAU Brings International Standards in Health Education to Türkiye

05.02.2026
Pamukkale University (PAU) continues to equip its academic staff with modern simulation techniques that are internationally recognized in health education. Through postdoctoral studies conducted in Spain, significant expertise has been established within the university in the innovative learning methodology MAES©.

Raising the bar in health education, Pamukkale University maintains its commitment to training professionals at international standards thanks to this new methodology, which is a first within the institution. In this context, Lecturer Dr. Mehmet Halil Öztürk, a faculty member of the First and Emergency Aid Program at the Denizli Vocational School of Health Services (DSHMYO) of Pamukkale University, successfully completed the relevant certification process and was awarded a certificate in the world-recognized Self-Learning Methodology in Simulated Environments (MAES©). As part of his postdoctoral studies conducted at University of Murcia, he worked with Prof. Dr. José Luis Díaz Agea, one of the developers of the methodology.

Based on the principles of clinical simulation and active learning, this new approach enables students to put their theoretical knowledge into practice in a safe environment. The methodology aims to develop students’ ability to make error-free decisions in real case scenarios, to reinforce the culture of teamwork that is vital in healthcare services, and to make the learning process more efficient and lasting by eliminating the fear of making mistakes.

The process, which has gone beyond the mere transfer of a methodology, has also initiated an official Erasmus Programme cooperation process between Pamukkale University and the University of Murcia as a result of the initiatives undertaken. Through this cooperation, students and academic staff of both universities will be able to benefit from mutual exchange programs and share experiences in the fields of clinical simulation and health sciences.
