In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Ercan Haytoğlu, the panel moderator, stated: “We wanted to crown the 102nd anniversary of our Republic with a panel. We chose Denizli Politics as the topic. We will evaluate three figures who had an impact on Denizli politics from the National Struggle to the Republic.”

During the panel, prominent figures in Denizli politics from the National Struggle to the Republic were discussed: Mazhar Müfit Kansu in the founding period of the Republic and the Turkish Revolution, Necip Buldanlıoğlu in the period when the Republic was established, and Dr. Baha Akşit covering processes spanning approximately 70 years of the Republic, each from their own perspectives.

The program began with Assistant Lecturer Cengiz Akseki presenting his talk titled “Denizli Mazhar Müfit Kansu and the Turkish Revolution.” In his presentation, Akseki briefly introduced Mazhar Müfit’s biography and shared details of his political career with the participants. He explained that Mazhar Müfit, originally from Denizli and serving as Hakkâri deputy in the 1st term of the first TBMM, continued as Denizli deputy until the 5th term, and then served as Çoruh (Artvin) deputy in the 6th and 7th terms after the proclamation of the Republic. Akseki concluded his talk by sharing insights from Kansu’s work titled “From Erzurum to His Death with Atatürk”, published in two volumes by the Turkish Historical Society, which included personal notes Kansu kept during his time with Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

Panelist Prof. Dr. Ercan Haytoğlu also shared the biography and career details of Necip Buldanlıoğlu, another deputy of the First Assembly. Originally from Buldan, Denizli, and a graduate of Rüştiye, Buldanlıoğlu held positions such as Finance and Correspondence Clerk, Court Clerk, Müstantik (Inquiry Judge), Deputy District Governor, President of the Red Crescent, businessman, and served as Denizli deputy in the 1st term of TBMM.
