Hosted by the PAU Faculty of Education, the program was attended by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ersan Öz; Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. İzzet Kara; Deputy Provincial Director of Family and Social Services Saliha Koçoğlu; Family and Social Services personnel Hasan Kılıç; PAU TOHSAM Director Asst. Prof. Öncü Yanmaz Arpacı; Deputy Director Asst. Prof. Senem Pak; TOHSAM staff member Mesude Cengiz Özbek; and the academic staff delivering the first-day courses, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Turgut Türkdoğan and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aykut Günlü, along with the participating mothers.

The certificate program is designed for mothers over the age of 35 who have never attended university and have at least two children. In the first week, themed “Understanding Our Children and Communicating with Them Effectively,” the first session titled “Positive Parenting” was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Turgut Türkdoğan, followed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aykut Günlü’s sessions on “Stages of Child Development” and “Recognizing and Correctly Responding to Peer Bullying.”

 

After the training, TOHSAM Director Asst. Prof. Öncü Yanmaz Arpacı, TOHSAM staff member Mesude Cengiz Özbek, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aykut Günlü joined participating mothers for a meal with students at the PAU Central Cafeteria, offering them an opportunity to experience student life on campus.

 

The four-week program, which will be delivered by PAU academics, will continue with “Safe Use of Phones and Computers” in the second week, “Healthy Living – Healthy Children” in the third week, and “Contributing to the Family Budget and Home Economics” in the fourth week.
