The training sessions, which provided participants with vision and guidance in their respective fields, were delivered by a distinguished group of academics and experts. Rector of Piri Reis University Professor Nafiz Arıca, PAU Vice Rector Professor Ersan Öz, Professor Ahmet Yazıcı, Professor İsmail Ovalı, Professor Handan Kumaş, Associate Professor Nurten Karacan Özdemir, Dr. Sezgi Akbaş, and Dr. Neylan Zümrüt shared their knowledge and experience with participants on key topics including artificial intelligence, university–industry collaboration, and career guidance.
Educators and Academics United Around a Shared Vision
The project brought together 25 guidance counselors working in public high schools in Denizli and 25 academics serving in various units of Pamukkale University under a shared vision of career guidance. Within the scope of the program, which was conducted between June 2 and 5 with the participation of a total of 50 educators, comprehensive training sessions and field applications were carried out on the use of artificial intelligence-based career tools, university–industry collaboration models, competency development in the digital ecosystem, psychological and professional resilience, and the professions of the future. Integrating high school and university education with the needs of the increasingly digitalized labor market, the project provided educators with a holistic, technology-oriented perspective aligned with the requirements of the modern era in career counseling processes.
Strategic Importance for Denizli and Pamukkale University
Presenting a new model in education for Denizli and Pamukkale University, the project carries strategic significance not only at the local level but also in line with national development goals. Designed in full alignment with Türkiye’s National Competency Initiative, the Competency Bridge project aims to reduce the guidance gap experienced during the transition from high school to university and to help shape young people’s career orientations according to the workforce needs of the future. Led by Pamukkale University through its strong academic infrastructure and institutional experience, the project contributed to strengthening the region’s digital transformation capacity.
A Shared Contribution to Denizli’s Future Through Strong Institutional Collaborations
The solidarity among local institutions and the effective collaborations demonstrated throughout the planning and implementation processes of the project brought together Denizli’s educational and industrial dynamics under a shared vision, providing a strategic gain for the city’s future. In this context, the project team expressed its gratitude to the administrators and officials of the Denizli Provincial Directorate of National Education (MoNE), who provided critical administrative support in the selection of guidance counselors, coordination of participation, and the successful integration of the innovative career guidance vision into schools throughout the province. The team also thanked the management of the Denizli Chamber of Industry (DSO) for hosting the technical visit to the Denizli Model Factory, which constituted the field component of the program and enabled participants to observe digital transformation, automation, and lean production processes on-site through the “Learn–Transform” approach, thereby connecting educators with the current expectations of the business world. It was emphasized that this ecosystem, which brought together the public sector, academia, and industry under one roof, would directly strengthen Denizli’s future pool of qualified human resources and provide invaluable long-term benefits for the city’s socio-economic development, industrial transformation, and regional development goals.
The “Competency Bridge” project demonstrated one of the most effective examples of inter-institutional collaboration by laying the foundations for a sustainable educational ecosystem that will guide young people in preparing more effectively for the dynamics and opportunities of the digital age.
