Pamukkale University Hospitals has launched the 5th Operating Room Nursing Certificate Program, organized to enhance the competencies of healthcare professionals working in operating rooms, one of the most critical areas of healthcare services.

The opening program began with a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem. It continued with the screening of a promotional video reflecting the work of operating room nurses, followed by protocol speeches.

The program, organized by training nurses within Pamukkale University Hospitals, was held with the participation of Chief Physician Professor Hakan Alkan, Deputy Chief Physician Professor Atakan Yılmaz, Chief Administrative Officer Dr. Murat Taşer, Director of Nursing Services Demet Ekici, deputy directors, charge nurses, and 14 trainees. During the opening ceremony, the vital role of nursing services in surgical processes was once again emphasized.

In her opening speech, Director of Nursing Services Demet Ekici stated that, as an institution, they attach the highest importance to certification processes. Emphasizing the responsibility undertaken by nurses in surgical success, Ekici said, “The success of surgical processes is not limited to technical knowledge alone. True success is possible with high attention, composure, foresight, speed, and flawless teamwork. At this point, the knowledge, skills, and coordination strength of our operating room nurses become one of the main determinants of patient safety, quality of care, and surgical success.” She also noted that such programs both keep professional competencies up to date and elevate team harmony to the highest level.

Chief Physician Professor Hakan Alkan, in his speech, highlighted the critical importance of operating room nursing in healthcare services and stated: “Operating rooms are among the most sensitive areas of healthcare services that require the highest level of attention. Our certificate programs strengthen the professional capacity of our nurses by offering opportunities both to update knowledge and to share valuable field experiences. As the administration, we stand behind every step that will strengthen our operating rooms. Our goal is to provide the highest quality treatment and care services to our patients with a strong team and a continuous education approach. For this reason, such programs that empower our operating room nurses will always continue to be supported.”

The training program, prepared in light of up-to-date scientific data, aims not only to provide theoretical knowledge but also to offer a platform that strengthens experience sharing and professional solidarity. The opening ceremony, during which thanks were extended to hospital administrators for their support in the preparation process and to the trainers who contributed despite their busy schedules, concluded with a group photo session and a cocktail. Following this meaningful start, the trainees began the theoretical training process in line with the planned schedule.
