In his statement made within the scope of Inflammatory Bowel Disease Day, Head of the Gastroenterology Division at PAU Hospitals, Assistant Professor Prof. Dr. Mustafa Çelik, used the following expressions: “Inflammatory bowel diseases are chronic diseases that are more common in society than generally thought and must definitely be taken seriously. They should not be confused with simple gastrointestinal complaints; especially symptoms such as prolonged abdominal pain, diarrhea, weight loss, anemia, and blood in the stool should be carefully evaluated. This group of diseases can significantly affect not only the digestive system but also patients’ social lives, psychological conditions, and quality of life. Inflammatory bowel diseases are chronic diseases that require lifelong follow-up and regular treatment. For this reason, it is of great importance for patients to be conscious, not to neglect regular physician check-ups, and for personalized treatment plans to be created. As with all diseases, early diagnosis, correct treatment, and close follow-up positively change the course of inflammatory bowel diseases. Thanks to developing diagnostic methods and modern treatment options today, patients can maintain a healthy, active, and high-quality life for many years. In this process, I aim not only to protect my patients’ health conditions but also their quality of life. Because intervention at the right time is of great importance in preventing disease progression, reducing the risk of complications, and enabling patients to maintain their daily lives more comfortably.”
