07.08.2025
Pamukkale University (PAU) Hospitals continue to be strengthened by donations aimed at improving the quality of healthcare services. Most recently, the Founder of Demirtaş Kömür San. ve Tic. A.Ş., Vehbi Demir, donated an Endoscopic Ultrasonography (EUS) device and an Ultra Slim Gastroscopy device to be used in advanced endoscopic procedures at the hospital.

The donation protocol was signed with the participation of PAU Hospitals Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Hakan Alkan, Deputy Chief Physician Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atakan Yılmaz, and Founder Vehbi Demir. Following the signing ceremony, the Endoscopy Unit, where the donated devices will be used, was visited together with Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmud Güngör for an on-site inspection.

Head of the Department of Gastroenterology Prof. Dr. Mustafa Çelik shared the following information about the donated devices: “EUS is an advanced diagnostic method that enables detailed imaging of internal organs such as the stomach, liver, pancreas, bile ducts, and esophagus. During the procedure, a thin tube (endoscope) with an ultrasound device at its tip is advanced into the stomach through the mouth, allowing the organs to be viewed both from the inside and at very close range. This method makes it possible to detect masses, particularly those around the pancreas and stomach, at a very early stage, which greatly increases the chances of successful treatment.”

Rector Güngör: “I extend my gratitude to Vehbi Demir for this meaningful contribution to healthcare services”

Welcoming Vehbi Demir, Founder of Demirtaş Kömür San. ve Tic. A.Ş., to his office, Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmud Güngör emphasized the importance of the donation, saying: “Thanks to these devices acquired for our hospital, more reliable and faster results will be achieved in advanced endoscopic procedures. I would like to thank Vehbi Demir for this meaningful contribution to healthcare services, and I believe the donation will make a significant contribution to the healthcare services we provide in our region.”
