Advantages and Disadvantages of the Remote Working Model Discussed at Midday Seminars

Within the scope of the “Midday Seminars” organized by Pamukkale University (PAU) Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Associate Professor Nagihan Durusoy Öztepe evaluated the effects of digitalization on working life and the transformation of labor markets through the remote working model.

On December 25, at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences A Block Şehit Piyade Teğmen Bekir Can Kerek Conference Hall, Associate Professor Nagihan Durusoy Öztepe, a faculty member of the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations, delivered her presentation titled “Redefining the Workplace: An Evaluation of the Advantages and Disadvantages of the Remote Working Model.”

Associate Professor Nagihan Durusoy Öztepe addressed the transformation created by digitalization and technological developments in working life, explaining the emergence and reasons for the widespread adoption of the remote working model. The effects of remote working practices, which accelerated especially in the post-pandemic period, on labor markets and organizational structures were examined in a comprehensive manner.

During the seminar, the advantages of the remote working model for employees—such as flexibility, time savings, and cost reduction—were emphasized. At the same time, potential disadvantages related to work–life balance, productivity, communication, and organizational commitment were also discussed. From the employers’ perspective, the impacts of remote working on management processes and performance evaluation systems were examined.
