With the suggestion of Prof. Dr. Oğuz Karadeniz, Head of PAU Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations, who has made significant contributions in this field in our country with his studies on working life, Yavuzçehre Tekstil decided to give paternity leave to its male employees whose wives gave birth one day a week. Yavuzçehre Tekstil set an example for Turkey with this work.

Prof. Dr. Oğuz Karadeniz, Head of the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations at Pamukkale University (PAU), who has made significant contributions to working life with his academic studies on issues such as social security, occupational health and safety, continues to work with companies on improving working conditions within the scope of sustainability activities. In this regard, he makes various presentations in companies and chambers and visits workplaces.

Prof. Dr. Oğuz Karadeniz visited Yavuzçehre Tekstil with PAU Labor Economics and Industrial Relations Society and held meetings with Ahmet Yavuzçehre, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yavuzçehre Tekstil A.Ş. and Sustainability Department Managers within the scope of sustainability activities. He exchanged views with the authorities to improve working conditions. As a result of the discussions, Yavuzçehre Tekstil decided to grant paternity leave to its male employees whose wives gave birth one day a week for four months, in addition to the 5-day leave in the Labor Law. Yavuzçehre Tekstil set an example for Turkey with this work.

Prof. Dr. Karadeniz: "Improving working conditions increases happiness and productivity for employees and companies"

Pointing out that childcare is not only the mother's duty, Prof. Dr. Oğuz Karadeniz said the following on the subject: "During our meeting with Yavuzçehre Tekstil, I said that everything is good, you are improving working conditions, you are providing daycare centers, but paternity leave is missing. Today, I learned that Yavuzçehre Tekstil took our suggestion into consideration and started to give paternity leave one day a week for four months to male workers whose wives gave birth. I was very happy. Childcare is not only the mother's duty. The care of the new member of the family is the duty of both the mother and the father. Promoting decent work and continuously improving working conditions in this context increases employee loyalty to the business and reduces labor turnover. Businesses work with happy and best workers. Thus, productivity and profitability increase. Everyone wins. I would like to thank the management of Yavuzçehre Tekstil for this decision. I hope that this work will set an example for all of Turkey and become widespread."
