The 5th National Tourist Guidance Congress Held at PAU
The 5th National Tourist Guidance Congress event was held by the Faculty of Tourism within the scope of "30 Years 30 Theme Activities" of Pamukkale University (PAU). Rector Kutluhan, in his speech at the opening of the congress, compared the profession of guidance to being an army commander, emphasizing the following: “Guidance is like owning the city. Guidance is truly an art.”
Provincial Culture and Tourism Director Turhan Veli Akyol made the first speech of the congress. Akyol said, “Thanks to our Pamukkale University, we are holding the fifth of an important congress. Tourist guidance is one of the most important components of tourism. Our Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Tourist Guiding Association (TUREB), the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB), the Council of Higher Education and our universities act together to make tourist guidance the best in terms of personnel and social rights, as well as in this province and region globally in terms of promoting this city and that is very important.”
Dean of Tourism Faculty Prof. Dr. Serkan Bertan stated the following in his speech: “This year, we are holding our Tourist Guidance Congress as part of our University's 30 Years 30 Theme Events. Our faculty, which was established in 2007, has 4 departments: Department of Tourism Management, Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, Department of Tourism Guidance and Department of Recreation Management. With the double major agreement we started this year, our students can receive education in many departments both in our faculty and outside our faculty. In addition, this year, an optional preparatory program has been opened in all our departments. As a faculty, we have many Erasmus agreements abroad. In fact, the faculty that receives the most foreign students in our university is the Faculty of Tourism of PAU. Cultural Heritage and Tourism Magazine is regularly published by our faculty. There are many projects implemented by our faculty.”
