The conference continued with the speech of Prof. Dr. Durmuş Akalın, PAU Vice Rector and Lecturer of Recent Era History at the Department of History, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (ITBF), on "March 18 Çanakkale Naval Victory". Prof. Dr. Durmuş Akalın talked about both the geographical and strategic location of Çanakkale and conveyed the importance of March 18, 1915 in the "March 18 Çanakkale Naval Victory" to the participants. Prof. Dr. Akalın: "Thirty-three miles long and five thousand meters wide, the Dardanelles consists of three straits. The first of these continues from the methal (entrance to the strait) to Cape Kepez. The second strait comes from Cape Kepez to the narrowest place in front of Kilidülbahir. The third knot continues from Kilidülbahir to the Marmara Sea. The fortifications of the region were prepared in accordance with this geographical structure and conditions. Çanakkale was in a weaker position against attacks from land. On March 18, 1915, the British and French navies under the command of Admiral J. De Robeck, who attempted to cross Çanakkale Strait, failed with heavy casualties. Although the enemy navy fired on the entire fortifications of the strait for seven hours, this attempt was inconclusive thanks to the effective counter-fire of the coastal artillery. In this naval battle, the mines laid by the Nusret Mineship caused heavy losses to the enemy navy. Seyit Onbaşı's driving the cannon shell into the barrel alone was a very important turning point in changing the course of the war. In addition to naval and land battles, air battles were also fought in Çanakkale. The Çanakkale Wars continued until the Armistice Treaty of Mudros."
The conference ended with a collective photo session after the presentation of gifts to the speakers.
