Mitraclip (Non-Surgical Mitral Valve Insufficiency Repair) procedure was performed for the first time in Denizli by Prof. Dr. Doğu Kılıç, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İpek Büber and Dr. Işık Tekin from the Department of Cardiology at Pamukkale University Hospital.

What is Mitraclip?

Mitraclip is a minimally invasive treatment method applied in case of mitral valve leakage, especially in heart failure patients. Mitraclip method is applied entirely by angiography. It is an alternative treatment method in patients who cannot undergo heart valve surgery.

What are the criteria for mitraclip?

It is often applied to heart failure patients with advanced mitral regurgitation. It is not applied to patients with mitral valve insufficiency due to rheumatic heart disease.

How many hours does the Mitraklip procedure take?

The Mitraclip method is a procedure that takes approximately 1 and a half hours.

Does Mitraclip require hospitalization?

After this interventional method, patients can return to their daily activities in a short time.

Is mitraclip applied to everyone?

It is not the right approach to perform mitraclip on everyone. In fact, high-risk patients who are thought to be unable to tolerate surgery, patients with severe heart failure, elderly patients, patients with serious problems in their kidneys and other organs, and hospice patients who cannot recover from a major surgery are ideal patients for mitraclip.

What changes in the patient's life after mitraclip?

After the procedure, the patient's complaints of heart-related inability to breathe and breathing irregularities decrease. Patients are expected to increase their movement capacity.

Is the Mitraclip procedure performed by stopping the heart as in heart surgeries?
