Goalball Women's National Team Becomes World Champion

Pamukkale University (PAU) students Şeydanur Kaplan and Berfin Altan took part in Turkey Goalball Women's National Team, which defeated South Korea 10-4 in the final of the IBSA Goalball World Championship in Portugal and became the world champion.
Turkey Goalball Women's National Team became the world champion by defeating South Korea 10-4 in the final of the IBSA Goalball World Championship in Matosinhos, Portugal, which gives quota points for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. In this way, the Goalball Women's National Team became the world champion for the first time and won the gold medal.
In the group stages of the IBSA Goalball World Championship, the Goalball Women's National Team defeated Canada 11-2, Algeria 12-2, Denmark 10-4, France 11-1, Argentina 13-3 and Mexico 11-1, but lost to Canada 12-7 and came second in the group. Then, on the way to the finals, the national team defeated the USA 5-4 in the quarterfinals and Israel 4-2 in the semifinals, both made a quota for the Paris 2024 Olympics and became the opponent of South Korea in the finals. In the final, which witnessed a contentious struggle, the national team defeated South Korea 10-4 and became the world champion.
The Women's National Team, which has the first and only championship in the history of Turkey in team sports by becoming the champion at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games and 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games, has defeated South Korea and signed a new success in the history of Turkish Goalball.
