Among the agenda items of the meeting were taking opinions on the transition to 3 + 1 education application, discussing how our stakeholders can provide support in internship in case of transition to 3 + 1 education application, taking opinions and suggestions on adding elective courses outside the department, discussing how support or cooperation can be provided for department students to meet with the sector (technical trip, seminar, online meeting, etc.), and taking opinions on the skills that students should acquire as a priority in order to prevail in the sector.
Head of the Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Türk: "While trying to train our young people, who we hope will be useful for the sector, they need to see the business field."
PAU DSBMYO Foreign Trade Department Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bahar Türk stated the following in her speech at the meeting: "My first question is about the transition to the 3+1 education system, which is frequently expressed by our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kutluhan, that is, supported by our Rectorate. As the Department of Foreign Trade and DSBMYO, we have put this model on our agenda for the next semesters. Again, as you know, in this model, our students spend their last semester in internships outside / in the sector. DENİB is one of our important external stakeholders. As DENİB, how can you contribute to the internship practice in this system? We sometimes have difficulty in getting support from our external stakeholders for our students to meet with the sector (technical trips, seminars, etc.). Everyone has a workload, but they need to see the business field while trying to train our young people, who we hope will be beneficial to the sector, for the sector. As for another question; are there any skills that you think our students should have in order to be in better places in the sector? If we can be in mutual communication about the education calendar, we can make more contributions to our students. We believe that our students will make good contributions to the sector with the knowledge and experience they will gain with your contributions in order not to waste the education and potential they receive from us."
DENİB Deputy Secretary General Fidangenç: "As DENİB Academy, we have offered around 40 trainings a year and around 420 trainings in the last 10 years."
ERTEKS Tekstil HR Specialist Selçi: "You have students who continue to work within our company after their internship period ends and they graduate."
Erteks Tekstil HR Specialist Doğan Selçi touched on the following topics in his speech at the meeting: "In terms of foreign trade, there is a need for information such as basic concepts of foreign trade, accounting, customs procedures. However, it is very important to realize the effective communication we just talked about. These are the courses that should be included alongside the necessary courses in the field of foreign trade. Last year, we had an intern from PAU DSBMYO Foreign Trade Department. After the internship period is over and he graduated, he continues to work within our company. A really good training is given that we continue to employ this person as our staff. On the other hand, I would like to draw attention to a detail about English. English is very important, but in order to work and progress in the foreign trade sector, it is necessary to improve English more, especially professional English. Finally, I would like to express that it was a nice sharing."
