DSBMYO Foreign Trade Department's 4th 'Career Talks' Held

In the fourth of the "Career Conversations" event organized by Denizli Social Sciences Vocational School Foreign Trade Department within the scope of the Career Planning course, Aegean Customs and Foreign Trade Directorate Denizli Customs Manager Ömer Yaşar and Customs Enforcement Smuggling Intelligence Regional Chief Emrah Turan met with the students.
Talking about his career steps, Ömer Yaşar stated that he started as an inspection officer at the Chief Directorate of Customs and that he is currently working as the Denizli Customs Directorate, and that he lectured on customs legislation, customs tariffs, inward processing regime, smuggling legislation and administrative law at the university he graduated from. Continuing his speech, he gave information about the World Customs Organization, the World Customs Cooperation Organization and the agreements in which our country is involved. In addition, our Ministry and Customs administrations; protection of human, animal and plant health and existence, protection of national treasures with artistic, historical or archaeological value, protection of the environment, implementation of foreign trade regime provisions, assessment, accrual, notification, collection of customs duties, etc. Stating that he has undertaken many missions, he also touched upon his mission in the fight against smuggling. Explaining the functioning of customs procedures and organizational structure, Manager Yaşar informed our students about the work and internship processes, stating that they can participate in and contribute to the processes as foreign trade department students.
Customs Enforcement Smuggling Intelligence Regional Chief Emrah Turan started his speech by stating that although he was a graduate of electronics teaching, he started this profession and always loved his profession. Stating that loving what you do is an important criterion for being happy in life, Turan gave information about the structuring of the Customs Enforcement Smuggling Intelligence Directorates, one of the judicial law enforcement forces in Turkey. He gave information about specialized units and teams, boat patrol teams, X-ray operators, detector dog managers, narcotic personnel and command and control centers within the General Directorate of Customs Enforcement. Turan, who also made descriptions about his field of duty, shared his experiences and memories with our students and also gave information about the ALO 136 smuggling line.
