EGEKAF 24, which was held at Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Nihat Zeybekci Congress and Culture Center on February 21-22, 2024 under the coordination of the Presidential Human Resources Office and hosted by Pamukkale University (PAU), attracted great interest from students and graduates on its second day.

On the second day of EGEKAF 24; TEI General Manager Prof. Dr. Mahmut Faruk Akşit "Engine Industry", İlim Yayma Foundation Chairman of the Board of Trustees Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan "Student Support Projects", State Theaters General Manager Tamer Karadağlı "Do You Have the Courage to Change?", as well as many career talks, panels and presentations, various competitions and social activities were the center of attention of students and graduates.

On the second day, İlim Yayma Foundation Chairman of the Board of Trustees Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan's interview titled "Student Support Projects" was held under the moderation of Presidential Human Resources Office Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Salim Atay.

Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of İlim Yayma Foundation, started his speech by talking about his student years and his career life afterwards: "I am very happy to be in Denizli, it has been a long time since I have been in Denizli. If we start with my story of going to Kartal Imam Hatip High School, in 1985, for the first time in Turkey, an imam hatip high school was opened which also provided German education. Kartal Imam Hatip High School was then in Beykoz. The reason for the opening of Beykoz Anatolian Imam Hatip High School was to encourage the children of our compatriots in Germany to receive education in Turkey without forgetting their German. Because of their national and spiritual sensitivity, it was deemed appropriate for this to be an imam hatip high school.

In those years, it really started its educational life as a school where our compatriots in Germany could send their children as boarders and at the same time receive German education. In 1990, it moved away from the notion of only addressing the children of our compatriots in Germany and turned into an Anatolian High School with the addition of English lessons, and since there was foreign language education, I was also enthusiastic at that time. There was talk about our exam score, our application, our exam results, and God gave us the chance. In 1991, I started studying there. Our eight-year middle school-high school adventure started in Kartal as a boarding school. After that, my dream was to either study at Mülkiye in Ankara or international relations at Boğaziçi in Istanbul. But during the 28 February process in '97, the middle sections of Imam Hatip High Schools and Qur'an courses were closed down, and the coefficients in university entrance exams were differentiated for the other students who remained in imam hatip schools. What kind of a situation is this? For example, they actually victimized all vocational high schools by making up such an excuse.

They said that vocational high school graduates could only attend two-year vocational high schools. They said let's bring an additional coefficient for them. What this means is that, for example, a student who graduated from a vocational vocational high school of commerce, for example, has his score reduced when he goes to his department, and his score is increased when he goes to a vocational vocational vocational school of commerce. Can you imagine that the child studied at the industrial vocational high school of his choice, but now he cannot go to industrial engineering? In other words, due to this coefficient victimization, not only the Imam Hatip High School was blocked, but the whole vocational high school system was unfortunately turned upside down. It took time to repair it. At that time, I prepared a university application file with two friends I met on this occasion. They went to Indiana University, so I went to the same university. In this way, I graduated from Indiana University in three years with a double major in Economics and Politics."

Erdoğan: "We need to protect our own values, we need to reflect our own identity to the Turkish century and the way to do this is by protecting our cultural values and passing them on to the next generation."

"There is an island in Japan where people live the longest average life in the world. The people on this island are studying how they live so long. Then this Ikigai emerges. According to Ikigai, firstly, the work you do should be compatible with your natural abilities. Secondly, you should enjoy doing this work. Thirdly, you should be able to make a living by doing this work. And fourthly, they say that doing this job should contribute to society. In summary, the Japanese say that if you can design a career where these four things meet, it will help you to have peace of mind and prolong your life.

Erdoğan: "As İlim Yayma Foundation, we give scholarships to around 3000 students annually."

As İlim Yayma Foundation, we give scholarships to around three thousand students annually. Let's give scholarships to more students so that the students who receive scholarships from here become students who do more successful things. Let them be part of a more successful, stronger story. İlim Yayma Foundation organizes Turkey's biggest academic awards such as İlim Yayma Awards. We organized the third one last December. Imagine that the grand prize is two hundred and fifty republican gold coins. We give two hundred and fifty republic gold to a great researcher academician for his scientific studies. It is the biggest academic award in Turkey as a result of a system that works with objective criteria and evaluations by referees who do not know each other. God willing, we want it to raise the quality of academic work in Turkey, and in the future, we want an international academic award program to emerge from Turkey. As İlim Yayma Foundation, we try to focus on more distinguished research scholars in our master's and doctoral scholarships. Apart from that, we offer the following approaches to our benefactors: Look, whichever sector you work in, wherever you earn your living, let us make a scholarship project for the field you work in.

Among the founders of İlim Yayma Foundation are Korkut Özal, Turgut Özal, Sabri Ülker. We want to make scholarship programs abroad in the names of such important leaders and successful people. There are examples of these in America. With such scholarship programs, maybe we can send a student to Harvard for a master's degree, and enable him to work on his potential to serve his country in a very serious way. In fact, for the past three years, we have included a project research support budget for our scholarship recipients in our scholarship budget. We receive applications from students staying in our dormitories or graduates who want research and project support."

İlim Yayma Foundation President Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan concluded his speech by stating that we need to protect our own values, we need to reflect our own identity to the Turkish Century and the way to do this is by protecting our cultural values and transferring them to the next generation.
