Spatial Analysis of the Victory Conducted at PAU on the 850th Anniversary of the Battle of Myriokephalon
The program, attended by Rector of Pamukkale University (PAU) Prof. Dr. Mahmud Güngör, was held at the Hierapolis Conference Hall of the PAÜ Faculty of Tourism.
As part of the program, the book titled Sultan II. Kilij Arslan, written by Prof. Dr. Altay Tayfun Özcan and Prof. Dr. Tülay Metin, was first introduced. Following the book presentation, an animated film specially prepared for the 850th anniversary of the Battle of Myriokephalon was presented to the participants.
The program continued with a panel titled “The Historical Significance and Spatial Analysis of the Battle of Myriokephalon,” moderated by Associate Professor Dr. İbrahim Balık, a faculty member at the Department of History of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Pamukkale University. During the panel, Prof. Dr. Muharrem Kesik, Prof. Dr. Selim Kaya, Associate Professor Dr. Cihat Cihan, and Assistant Professor Dr. Mehmet Yağcı shared their assessments of the historical significance of the Battle of Myriokephalon and the geography in which it took place.
At the end of the program, plaques and certificates of appreciation were presented to the academics who contributed to the event, while medals prepared by the Çivril Municipality were also presented.
