Honaz Vocational School Foreign Trade Students Meet with the Sector
The Foreign Trade Department of Pamukkale University (PAU) Honaz Vocational School organized its traditional “Actors of Foreign Trade” technical field trip once again this year, bringing first-year students together with institutions and organizations operating in different areas of the foreign trade sector.
Coordinated by Deputy Head of the Department of Foreign Trade Lecturer Adnan Akşit, the technical field trip was held on September 30. As part of the visit, students visited Nesa Tekstil, a manufacturer and exporter; Ertan Gümrükleme, which operates in the field of customs brokerage; the Denizli Exporters’ Association; and the Denizli Regional Directorate of Customs and Foreign Trade. Throughout the technical field trip, students received information from officials about the fields of activity, duties, and responsibilities of the institutions and organizations involved in different stages of the foreign trade process. During the visits, sector representatives exchanged views with the students on the functioning of foreign trade and export processes, as well as career fields and employment opportunities in the sector.
During the talks, students had the opportunity to ask sector representatives questions about topics they were curious about and to obtain first-hand information, particularly about internship and employment opportunities. In this way, students had the opportunity to relate the theoretical knowledge they acquired in their courses to sector practices and to observe the foreign trade ecosystem on site. The technical field trip, organized to support students’ professional development, help them become acquainted with the sector at an early stage, and contribute to their career planning, was met with great interest by the students.
Deputy Head of the Foreign Trade Department at Honaz Vocational School Lecturer Adnan Akşit stated that becoming closely acquainted with the sector, in addition to their theoretical education, is important for students’ professional development, and noted that practical training and technical field trip activities bringing students together with sector representatives will continue in the coming periods.
