Within the scope of the Accessible Universities Awards granted by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), Pamukkale University (PAU) Faculty of Education, which received its first blue flag award last year, has once again been deemed worthy of the 2026 “Blue Flag” award.

Within the scope of the Accessible Universities Awards organized annually by YÖK, PAU Faculty of Education was awarded the “Blue Flag” in the field of Accessibility in Socio-Cultural Activities for 2026. Having previously received the “Green Flag” award in the field of Accessibility in Education, the Faculty of Education has succeeded in becoming one of the faculties holding both blue and green flag awards with this achievement.

Rector Güngör: “This award is the greatest proof that we have made inclusiveness the main criterion in our social projects”

Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmud Güngör stated: “Today, we are celebrating bringing the ‘Accessibility in Socio-Cultural Activities’ award given by the Council of Higher Education, namely the Blue Flag, to our university. The blue flag is a prestigious symbol showing that our university has adopted the principle of ‘accessibility for everyone’ not only in education but also in social life. This symbol is the greatest proof that we have made inclusiveness the main criterion in our social projects.”

Rector Güngör listed the transformation efforts at Pamukkale University as follows: “Every stage of our social and cultural activities, from the announcement phase to the implementation phase, has been planned by considering the needs of disabled individuals, sign language interpretation has been included in our conferences and panels to ensure that our cultural accumulation reaches every student, our student communities have been brought together around a ‘culture of common living’ where disabled and non-disabled students can produce projects together, the areas on our campus have been redesigned so that each of our students can showcase their abilities, universities are not only places where diplomas are obtained but also spaces where individuals socialize and participate in society. With this Blue Flag we have received, we have certified that our disabled students are active participants in social life on our campus.”

Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmud Güngör and Faculty of Education Dean Prof. Dr. İzzet Kara examined the door signs inside the faculty written in Braille alphabet and then took a commemorative photo in front of the blue flag and certificates.
