Denizli Cuisine Takes Its Place at the “World’s Largest Anatolian Table”

Denizli cuisine was represented by academics from the Culinary Arts Program of Pamukkale University Tavas Vocational School at the VIII. International Gastro Afyon Tourism and Flavor Festival, held under the auspices of the Afyonkarahisar Governorship and coordinated by the Afyonkarahisar Municipality from October 2 to 4.

The “World’s Largest Anatolian Table,” where regional delicacies from all 81 provinces of Türkiye came together at the same table, reached a length of 247 meters and 68 centimeters, earning a Guinness World Record. Bringing together 963 different delicacies from all 81 provinces of Türkiye, the giant Anatolian table carried Anatolia’s rich culinary culture and shared tradition of dining together to the world.

At this meaningful event, Denizli cuisine was represented by Dr. Sinem Türk Aslan, Lecturer Dr. Figen Yüce, Lecturer Nusret Ercan Şenlikci, and School Secretary Hüseyin Önür, who are members of the teaching staff of the Culinary Arts Program at Pamukkale University Tavas Vocational School. In addition, students from the Culinary Arts Program participated in the event with the support of Tavas Municipality, contributing to the promotion of Denizli cuisine and the organization of the event.

With the aim of promoting Denizli’s rich gastronomic heritage and making the city’s regional values more visible on national and international platforms, the Denizli stand brought the city’s distinctive agricultural products, traditional delicacies, and cultural values together with visitors, showcasing the regional richness and gastronomic diversity of Denizli cuisine. The table prominently featured Denizli’s geographically registered products, including Acıpayam melon, Acıpayam Çakır carrot, Avşar grapes, Babadağ thyme honey, Denizli thyme, Denizli roasted chickpeas, Çal Karası grapes, Çameli beans, Tavas baklava, Tavas burnt sheep’s yogurt, Honaz cherries, Kale peppers, İsabey seedless grapes, and various regional products. In addition, Buldan cloth, Çameli Elmalı cloth, Çameli kilim, Kızılhisar cups, and Denizli travertine products were incorporated into the table decoration, conveying to festival participants not only culinary culture but also different elements of traditional production, handicrafts, and cultural heritage.

As part of the “World’s Largest Anatolian Table” event held under the auspices of Emine Erdoğan, wife of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, renowned chefs, gourmets, gastronomy writers, academics, students, and numerous gastronomy enthusiasts came together.

The faculty members of the Culinary Arts Program at Pamukkale University Tavas Vocational School expressed their great pride in representing Denizli cuisine and its regional values at such an important event, crowned with a Guinness World Record, and stated that they were very happy to contribute to carrying Anatolia’s ancient culinary culture into the future.
