"International Beyağaç Topuklu Plateau Sky Observation Event" Organized in Partnership with PAU

International Beyağaç Topuklu Plateau Sky Observation Event was held in partnership with Pamukkale University on July 13-16, 2023 in Topuklu Plateau of Denizli-Beyağaç District.

At the International Beyağaç Topuklu Plateau Sky Observation Event, PAU Tourism Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Serkan Bertan made a presentation titled "Rural Tourism and Sky Observation Event". In the presentation titled "Rural Tourism and Sky Observation Activity", Prof. Dr. Bertan gave information about the tourism values of Beyağaç district, Beyağaç flavors, rural tourism, astro tourism, dark sky parks. Prof. Dr. Bertan stated that the first phase of the application for Beyağaç-Topuklu Plateau to join the International Dark Sky Park network has been completed and the second phase studies have been initiated. Prof. Dr. Bertan also gave information about the importance, criteria and objectives of dark sky parks.

Prof. Dr. Bertan Emphasizes the Importance of Dark Sky Parks in Rural Tourism

In the presentation with Dark Sky Park, Prof. Dr. Serkan Bertan gave information about the number of dark sky parks in the world, their distribution, application stages, and the application process of Beyağaç Topuklu Plateau. Stating that sky parks are important in rural tourism, Prof. Dr. Bertan stated that they are effective on rural development and destination image.  He stated that participation in the network of dark sky parks will make important contributions to our country and our province.

Prof. Dr. Bertan concluded his statements on the subject as follows: "The International Beyağaç Topuklu Plateau Sky Observation Event is very important in terms of ensuring participation in the Dark Sky Park network with the realization of the necessary projects."
