Youth and Culture Came Together at PAU on May 19
At the event organized through the collaboration of Pamukkale University (PAU) and the Denizli Youth Center on the occasion of the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day on May 19, a traditional folk dance performance, musical recitals, and an archery demonstration received great appreciation.
The 107th anniversary of the lighting of the torch of the National Struggle in Samsun was celebrated with a special program held at Pamukkale University. The event, organized in cooperation with the Denizli Youth Center, the PAU Department of Contemporary Turkish Dialects and Literatures, and the Altai Communities Languages and Cultures Application and Research Center, brought together young people and academics.
In addition to the faculty administration, the program was attended by administrative officials from the District Directorate of Youth and Sports, the Denizli Youth Center, and the Personnel Branch Directorate, as well as faculty members and students. The program began with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem.
“May 19 Is the Voice of Hope and Courage”
Before the opening of the program, a meaningful art exhibition was inaugurated with the participation of the guests. This was followed by a folk dance performance that brought the enthusiasm to its peak. The highly acclaimed performance added dynamism and cultural richness to the celebrations.
Delivering the opening speech of the program, Dr. Mehmet Sarıköse, Vice Chair of the Department of Contemporary Turkish Dialects and Literatures, emphasized the historical significance of the spirit of May 19 for the Turkish nation.
Following the opening speech, a promotional film introducing the activities of the Denizli Youth Center, which contributes to the social, cultural, and athletic development of young people, was screened. After the film, Denizli Youth Center Director Ömer Yasin Kocalar took the podium and spoke about the role undertaken by the center in helping young people move toward the future with hope. Speaking on behalf of university students, Sıla Ayar delivered an emotional speech, stating that May 19 represents a legacy, hope, and courage for them. Following the speeches, the event continued with cultural and artistic performances. Burhan Himmetli and Derya Atmaca Kocabıyık, who took the stage, presented a musical feast to the audience with Anatolian folk melodies performed accompanied by the bağlama. At the end of the event, certificates of participation and appreciation were presented to those who contributed to the organization of the program and the performances.
