World Immunization Week Event Held at PAU Hospitals

27.04.2026
A comprehensive informational event covering the historical development of vaccination and current scientific data was organized at the outpatient clinic entrance of Pamukkale University (PAU) Hospitals.

Prof. Dr. Tuğba Sarı, Head of the Adult Vaccination Outpatient Clinic, emphasized the indispensable role of vaccination within the discipline of public health in her statements regarding the event. Drawing attention to how vaccination has transformed global health indicators, she continued as follows: “Vaccination is the most successful intervention in the history of public health in controlling infectious diseases. The complete eradication of smallpox in 1980 and the near elimination of polio cases are the most concrete evidence of this scientific process. Thanks to vaccination, the average human life expectancy has significantly increased over the last century, and infant mortality has shown a dramatic decline. Contrary to scientifically unfounded claims put forward about vaccines developed during the pandemic period, these vaccines have been administered in billions of doses and their safety profiles have been proven through academic studies. Thanks to modern medicine and advanced technology, these vaccines developed in a short time have prevented millions of deaths worldwide and enabled the pandemic to be brought under control. At the Adult Vaccination Outpatient Clinic within our hospital, we provide vaccination and consultancy services to approximately 5,000 citizens annually. I would like to thank my team members Nurse Neşe Akol and Nurse Kübra Uçar for their professional contributions and their work in accordance with academic discipline during this intensive process; their field experience enhances the quality of our services.”

“Staying away from misinformation and adhering to academically proven vaccination schedules is essential for public health.”

The event also featured an exhibition titled “The Historical Development of Vaccines,” prepared by the GENÇ TABİPLER student community of the medical faculty. Prof. Dr. Sarı thanked the students who took part in informing the public and distributing literature-based brochures and congratulated Community President Ali Ufuk Otcum for his leadership in the organization.
