Distinguished Jury Identifies the “Best” in Social Sciences

The prestigious jury, consisting of Ali Bayramoğlu, Prof. Dr. Mensur Akgün, Taha Akyol, Prof. Dr. İskender Öksüz, and Mehmet Ali Verçin, identified the most prominent works in the field of social sciences for 2025. As a result of an evaluation focusing on inquisitive, critical, and paradigm-shifting studies, an extensive corpus of 11 works was selected, ranging from Islamic history and philosophy to genocide theories and social codes.

“Cevap Hakkı” as a Paradigm-Challenging Study

The work titled “Cevap Hakkı: The Kurdish Question from the Perspective of Turkish Nationalism” (Mavi Gök Publishing) by Dr. İkbal Vurucu, a member of the academic staff at Acıpayam Vocational School, was recorded as one of the most significant components of this extensive corpus.

 

In the jury’s assessment, it was emphasized that Dr. Vurucu’s study does not merely present a theoretical approach, but is also based on field research and face-to-face interviews with the public. Addressing the period known as the “Resolution Process” from a broad 15-year perspective, the work offers an original analysis blended with the author’s findings from “The Genealogy of Nominalist Intellectuals.” 

An Intellectual Roadmap

The KARAR jury stated that this selection of 11 works is not only a reading list but also an “intellectual roadmap” that enables society to confront its mental frameworks. The book—Dr. İkbal Vurucu’s eighth work in the field, known for his prolific contributions to sociology—secured its place among the best works of 2025 with its interdisciplinary rigor and the historical perspective it offers on contemporary issues.
