The academic year opening lecture of Pamukkale University (PAU) Denizli Vocational School of Social Sciences (DSBMYO), titled “Palestine and Gaza in the Light of Historical Consciousness: Occupation and Resistance,” was delivered by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Ünal.
The event began with a moment of silence and the recitation of the National Anthem, followed by opening speeches.
The first opening speech was delivered by the Director of DSBMYO, Prof. Dr. Tülay Metin. In her address, Prof. Dr. Metin stated:
“This year, together we can strive not only to learn academic knowledge but also to understand what it truly means to be human. Dear young people, you are the guarantee of our future. You must become individuals who contribute to your families, your country, your nation, and the world. I know that each of you has the potential to make our society, our environment, and the world a better place. You have the power to carry out studies that will benefit humanity, nature, education, and science across the globe. Remember that even a small step can lead to great change. Our university continues its efforts to contribute to society through both academic and social responsibility projects. My dear students, by working together, we will become stronger. We will achieve greater success and become individuals who add value to society. We all coexist within the society we live in. We must act not only by thinking of ourselves but also by considering the people around us. We must not forget that we are stronger together and that by supporting one another, we can achieve even greater success. I believe that the solution to problems lies in all our hands. I wish our new academic year to be a fruitful one.”
Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ersan Öz then took the floor, wishing for the event to be productive and for the new academic year to bring success, before giving the floor to Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Ünal.
