Strategic Move from PAU: Türkiye’s First Domestic Campus Artificial Intelligence System “PAUAI” Goes Live
Pamukkale University (PAU) has launched the first in-house artificial intelligence platform established within a university in Türkiye. With the PAUAI system, students and academics can benefit from a powerful artificial intelligence infrastructure without compromising the privacy of their data.
Pamukkale University Established Its Own Artificial Intelligence System
Pamukkale University (PAU) has taken a giant step that will pioneer digital transformation in higher education. “PAUAI,” the first in-house artificial intelligence platform established within a university in Türkiye, has been made available to students and academics with data security at its core.
Pamukkale University has taken a groundbreaking step by activating a local and secure artificial intelligence system running on its own servers and built entirely with open-source software and models. The system, launched under the name “PAUAI,” is the first of its kind among Turkish universities. Established to support academic studies and increase research capacity, the system is accessible through the university network via https://ai.pau.edu.tr/.
Data Privacy and Compliance with the Personal Data Protection Law Secured
At a time when many institutions depend on foreign cloud infrastructures such as OpenAI or Google for artificial intelligence solutions, PAU has broken this dependency and keeps its data entirely under its own control. Since the PAUAI system is hosted on the university’s own servers, no user data is transmitted to external servers. With this structure, 100% data privacy and compliance with the Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK) are ensured.
Comprehensive Feature Set Facilitating Academic Use
The system can understand PDF, Word, and text files and generate precise answers based on document content. Among the main features of PAUAI are the ability to analyze and interpret visuals, answer complex academic questions in both Turkish and English, and provide user-specific independent workspaces. Students and academics with coding knowledge will also be able to obtain API keys and directly integrate the software they develop into the university’s artificial intelligence engine.
Rector Güngör: “This system is not only a technological investment; it is a concrete indicator of the value we place on academic freedom and data sovereignty.”
Pamukkale University Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmud Güngör stated in his remarks on the matter: “As Pamukkale University, we are providing our researchers with a world-class artificial intelligence infrastructure. This system is not only a technological investment; it is a concrete indicator of the value we place on academic freedom and data sovereignty.”
Accessible from within the university campus via https://ai.pau.edu.tr/, PAUAI also aims to serve as a model for other educational institutions in Türkiye.
