Pharmacists Are the Unsung Heroes of Healthcare
Chief Pharmacist of Pamukkale University (PAU) Hospitals, Hilmi Soykök, made statements regarding the significance of World Pharmacists Day on September 25.
Chief Pharmacist of PAU Hospitals, Hilmi Soykök, shared the following information in his statement:
“Today is a special day to remember the indispensable place and value of the pharmacy profession within the healthcare system. Pharmacists are healthcare professionals who ensure the correct, effective, and safe use of medicines, guide patients throughout the treatment process, and play a critical role in the protection of public health. Pharmacists are not merely individuals who dispense medicines; they are health consultants equipped with scientific knowledge, actively engaged in vital duties such as ensuring safe access to medicines, maintaining the sustainability of healthcare services, and improving community health. They are always at the forefront under challenging circumstances such as epidemics, natural disasters, and the management of chronic diseases, serving with great dedication.
We, as pharmacists, are a professional group based on scientific foundations, embracing ethical values, and placing human health above everything else. As healthcare workers who are trusted, consulted, and committed to serving society, we will continue to fulfill our duty in the best way possible under all circumstances. On this meaningful day, we sincerely celebrate the Pharmacists’ Day of all our colleagues who work tirelessly day and night, adding value to their profession and to humanity,” he said.
