Pamukkale University (PAU) Hospitals emphasized the importance of early diagnosis, accurate information, and scientific treatment in the fight against cancer for Cancer Week, April 1–7.

Pamukkale University (PAU) Hospitals’ Head of the Department of Medical Oncology, Dr. Gamze Gököz Doğu, made a statement on the occasion of Cancer Week, April 1–7.

Dr. Gököz Doğu stated: “Empowering oneself with knowledge and healing with hope form the foundation of the fight against cancer. Today, cancer is becoming an increasingly common health issue, and early diagnosis plays a vital role at this point. The most powerful tools in combating cancer are early detection, accurate information, and evidence-based treatments. Unfortunately, misinformation spreads as quickly as the disease itself, and methods without scientific support can mislead patients, keeping them away from effective treatments. Therefore, raising awareness in society is of great importance. Every individual should participate in regular screening programs, be conscious of symptoms, and consult health professionals without delay. Early diagnosis significantly increases treatment success in many types of cancer. Fighting cancer is not solely a medical process; it is also a journey requiring psychological and social support. It is extremely valuable for patients to feel that they are not alone in this process. When healthcare workers, families, and society act together, the fight becomes much stronger. In the battle against cancer, the greatest strengths are science, solidarity, and hope.”
