PAU Hospitals Provide “Sustainable Breastfeeding” Training to Female Employees of Hürsan Garment Factory
As part of World Breastfeeding Week, observed from August 1–7, Pamukkale University (PAU) Hospitals extended its awareness-raising efforts beyond the hospital by organizing “Sustainable Breastfeeding” training for female employees working at Hürsan Garment Factory.
The training program was organized to support working mothers, raise awareness of breastfeeding in the workplace, and promote sustainable breastfeeding. It was implemented with the support of Serpil Ağcabay, Administrative Supervisor of the Organized Industrial Zone Polyclinic at Pamukkale University Hospital, and under the coordination of the Directorate of Nursing Services. In addition to female employees working at Hürsan, expectant mothers and mothers also participated in the program.
The training was delivered by Sunay Keyikci, Breastfeeding and Relactation Nurse at Pamukkale University Hospitals. The program covered the unique benefits of breast milk for infant and maternal health, correct breastfeeding techniques, safe storage conditions for breast milk, and practical recommendations for continuing breastfeeding without interruption during working life. During the training, the questions of female employees were answered, while common problems encountered during the breastfeeding period, misconceptions, and possible solutions were addressed in light of scientific information. Participants had the opportunity to gain practical information about situations they may encounter in their daily and working lives.
At the end of the training, informative breastfeeding materials were distributed to the participants. Female employees who attended the program expressed their satisfaction with the training and support provided. Hatice Kocakaya and Ayşen Baz, Deputy Directors of Nursing Services at Pamukkale University Hospitals, stated that they would continue their efforts to provide training, counseling, and public awareness activities centered on maternal and infant health to all segments of society with determination.
