PAU Academic Wins First Place in the World Spinal Cord Injury Poster Competition
At the annual meeting of the International Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS), Pamukkale University (PAU) Faculty of Medicine, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation academic member Professor Necmettin Yıldız once again achieved first place in the World SCI Day poster competition, which was held this year under the theme “Prevent Falls: Protect Your Spinal Cord.”
The ISCoS event took place in Gothenburg, Sweden, between October 8 and 11. Professor Yıldız, whose work won first place in the poster competition, stated that the winning poster would be used in all related activities throughout the year. He expressed his pride in representing Türkiye, noting that he had previously won first place at the 2023 ISCoS poster competition in Edinburgh, Scotland, themed “Access to Spinal Cord Injury Services: A Better Life,” and second place at the 2024 competition in Antwerp, Belgium, themed “Stop Violence: Protect the Spinal Cord.”
Professor Yıldız explained that the figures used in the poster emphasize “raising awareness of the social and individual causes of falls—which may vary depending on season, age, lifestyle, and geography—and highlighting how the combined use of scientific data produced by professionals from various disciplines and artificial intelligence can shed light on preventing falls, which is essential for a healthy and aesthetic spine.”
