New Academic Year at DSBMYO Begins with an Opening Lecture on “A Türkiye Free of Terrorism”

Pamukkale University (PAU) Denizli Vocational School of Social Sciences (DSVSS) held a program titled “A Türkiye Free of Terrorism: A New Era from the Perspectives of Security Policy and Public Policy” as part of the Opening Lecture for the 2026–2027 Academic Year.

The program, held at the DSBMYO Hierapolis Conference Hall, continued with an opening speech by DSBMYO Director Prof. Dr. Tülay Metin following a moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem. Prof. Dr. Metin wished students, academic staff, and administrative staff a successful and productive new academic year and stated that the opening lecture would contribute to students’ ability to evaluate current developments from an academic perspective.

The opening lecture was delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Onur Kulaç, faculty member of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the PAU Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and Advisor to the Rector. Alongside his academic studies in the field of public policy and analysis, Kulaç has also taken part as a researcher in the Terror-Free Türkiye Report Project. He addressed Türkiye’s progress in the fight against terrorism and the Terror-Free Türkiye process comprehensively at the intersection of security policies and public policies.

In his presentation, Associate Professor Dr. Onur Kulaç emphasized that the Terror-Free Türkiye process should be evaluated not only from a security perspective but also in terms of public administration, policy formulation, and implementation processes. Addressing the significance of the process in terms of public policies from different perspectives, Kulaç shared his assessments of both current developments and the period ahead with the participants. Focusing particularly on the relationship between security policy and public policy, Kulaç evaluated the effects of current developments on the formulation and implementation of public policies within an academic framework. During the opening lecture, which was followed with great interest by the students, the topic was addressed from different perspectives, including its possible implications for the future.

During the question-and-answer session of the program, which was attended by academic and administrative staff and students, Associate Professor Dr. Onur Kulaç answered questions from the participants and shared his assessments. The program concluded after DSBMYO Director Prof. Dr. Tülay Metin expressed her thanks to Associate Professor Dr. Onur Kulaç.
