Monetary Policy Independence Discussed at the Midday Seminar of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences

The speaker of the Midday Seminar, held on Thursday, November 6, in the Şehit Piyade Teğmen Bekir Can Kerek Conference Hall, was Prof. Dr. Şaban Nazlıoğlu, a faculty member of the Department of International Trade and Finance.

In his presentation titled “How Independent Are Monetary Policies?”, Prof. Dr. Nazlıoğlu addressed central bank independence and explained its connections to inflation targeting, exchange rate policies, and financial stability with illustrative examples. Emphasizing that monetary policy independence may periodically be limited, particularly in developing countries, Nazlıoğlu concluded his talk by answering participants’ questions.

The Midday Seminars organized by the faculty aim to strengthen academic interaction by bringing together students and academic staff.
