Meeting on Blood and Blood Component Transfusion Process Held Within the Scope of Hemovigilance Activities at PAU Hospitals

A meeting addressing critical topics related to hemovigilance activities, blood banking practices, improving the quality and safety of blood products, and transfusion processes was held at Pamukkale University (PAU) Hospitals.

The meeting, which was opened by PAU Hospitals Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Hakan Alkan, was attended by representatives from transfusion centers in Denizli city center and districts, as well as hemovigilance teams.

Within the program, presentations prepared by Prof. Dr. Nil Güler, the Pamukkale University Hemovigilance Team and Transfusion Center, Dr. Ferda Korkut, Director of the Turkish Red Crescent South Aegean Regional Blood Center, and his team, as well as the Denizli Provincial Health Directorate, were delivered to participants. Up-to-date information was shared during the meeting, with the aim of strengthening consistency in practice. In addition, the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to improving patient safety was emphasized, and solutions to problems encountered in the field were evaluated.

In her evaluation of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Nil Güler, Head of the Department of Hematology and Hemovigilance Coordinator, stated that the effective implementation of hemovigilance processes is of critical importance for patient safety, adding that such trainings and meetings increase information sharing among healthcare professionals and strengthen standardization in practice.

It was stated that appreciation was extended to all individuals and institutions involved in organizing the training, and that similar scientific and educational activities would continue.
